Harbor is a cross-platform Electron app that validates a family policy and keeps it in a local, guardian-protected control plane. It is designed for the decisions before enforcement: what your household means by bedtime, a limit, an exception, or an approval.

Shape a policy

Start from a thoughtful baseline.

Set daily and per-app time limits, bedtime windows, selected days, safer-search preferences, content categories, site lists, app lists, purchase settings, alerts, and trusted adults.

Find an app locally

Specific choices without guesswork.

When setting an app limit or block, Harbor can autocomplete application names it discovers on the local computer. The list is not uploaded or used for tracking.

Keep guardian control

Protect the policy itself.

A 6–12 digit guardian PIN is required for policy changes and exports. Harbor saves a salted scrypt hash—not the PIN—and uses OS-user-only file permissions.

What does Harbor Family actually do today?

It is a local desktop control plane: it helps a guardian create, validate, save, review, and export policy settings. It can also autocomplete names from a locally discovered app list while configuring an app rule.

Does it block apps, websites, purchases, or device use?

No. Global app blocking, DNS or web filtering, screen locks, and purchase enforcement require signed, privileged operating-system agents. Those agents are not included or publicly ready in this release.

Is Harbor tracking a child or sending data to a service?

No tracking service is provided by this release. Settings are stored in the local app user-data directory. Location sharing is only a policy setting for a future installed agent; it does not provide location tracking today.

Can I download and install Harbor right now?

This page offers the v0.1.0 source archive, not a public installer. The project can produce platform packages during development, but a package is not presented as a trusted release until it is appropriately signed and, where required, notarized.
