Local settings
Harbor Family stores its policy settings in the desktop app’s local user-data directory. Those settings may include the household policy choices entered in the app, such as profile labels, time rules, site or app lists, alert preferences, and trusted-adult contact details if a guardian chooses to enter them.
The app also uses a salted scrypt hash for the guardian PIN rather than storing the PIN itself. Local storage does not make a computer universally secure; anyone with access to that computer or its files may have separate ways to access local information.
What is not implemented
The current product has no accounts, cloud sync, analytics, remote dashboards, tracking service, or email service. The app does not upload policy settings or locally discovered application names to SN-X.com.
Location sharing is only a policy setting intended for a possible future installed agent. It does not collect or share location in the current release.
Your choices
Because settings are local, you control what you enter and retain on the computer. You can remove local settings by using the app or managing its local user data, as appropriate for your installation. An exported policy is a separate file that you control and should handle accordingly.
