Trust & legal / limitations

Where Harbor
stops today.

A policy file can make expectations clear. It cannot make operating systems, networks, apps, or people comply on its own.

Control plane plus in-app lock

Harbor Family currently creates, validates, saves, reviews, and exports local policy settings. While Harbor is running, bedtime and daily-limit rules can trigger an in-app full-screen lock that requires guardian PIN for temporary unlock.

Harbor does not yet include a global privileged enforcement agent. Saving a setting alone does not activate a device-wide restriction.

Not enforced in this release

  • Global app blocking or app time limits outside Harbor runtime
  • Web, DNS, or content filtering
  • Purchase approval or spending-cap enforcement
  • Location collection or sharing
  • Remote monitoring, hosted dashboards, or cloud sync

Local discovery is not surveillance

While a guardian configures an app rule, the app can match names from a list discovered on the same computer. It does not upload the list for tracking or analytics.

Use the right safeguards

Do not rely on Harbor Family alone to control access or provide safety outcomes. If you need operating-system, network, account, or other protective controls, use and review the tools that actually provide those controls. The current public download is source code, not a signed public installer.
